It makes a huge difference when your Optician is a musician themselves and knows exactly how to manipulate a prescription to get the vision I needed at band. Steve said “ I could see straight away that the glasses from Allegro were the exact prescription I needed to be able to see my music clearly. Once his new spectacles arrived, he came in to collect them and he saw an immediate improvement. Luckily he was able to return the spectacles that didn’t work to his old optician under their three month no quibble returns policy, so he wasn’t left out of pocket. Once we had corrected that, we proceeded to order a new pair of spectacles for Steve, specifically for seeing his music. Unfortunately, as we see all too often, the distance prescription was not dissimilar to the one our optometrist, Sara Ackroyd found, but the prescription for the music distance was very different. Within a few days, we had Steve in our test room, just to double check the prescription he had been given by his Optician. He explained his issues and we knew straight away what the problems with his recently acquired glasses were. ![]() Thankfully for Steve, he had heard of Allegro Optical, The Musicians Optician through his musical connections and contacted us immediately after the concert. This then had a huge impact on what he was hearing within his section and threw him completely off balance. Not long after collecting his glasses Steve performed at a concert with Brighouse & Rastrick Band and found that he couldn’t see his music without leaning forward and reading it at close range. Four weeks later he collected his new spectacles. Steve had told his Optician where he needed his music stand and what he needed to be able to see. He had taken his music stand to the eye exam appointment with him, along with some sheet music. When Steve Ridler contacted us, he had recently been to his local high street optical chain optician and was somewhat disappointed with the glasses he was prescribed. ![]()
